  • WELCOME!

Hola peeps! Welcome to Casa de Lewis. We are twenty somethings who got married in 2010, bought a house in 2011, and had a sweet baby girl in 2012! We both started our careers as CPAs and now Reagan works in finance and I have my own photography business. I blog about my baby girl (obviously), products we love, crafts, photography, DIY projects, sweet treats, random life tidbits, and the balance of being a mom and business owner! Our house is always a work in progress but we love working on it and making it our own. Thanks for stopping by! Snoop around, why dontcha :)

It is so funny to watch the different phases Paige goes through. For awhile she would come up and rest her head on me like this! This happened to be the same day I had my camera out so I quickly snapped a couple of shots!

I’ll take snuggles however I can get ‘em girl!

And guess what?! We have a “snow day” in Texas today! Is there snow on the ground? Nope! But just like snuggles, I’ll take snow days however I can get ‘em too! Have a great weekend!

PS – I added a couple of updates to the post about my photo packaging.

Photo Packaging Fun

The fun thing about my photography business is that I am constantly tweaking it. I am always researching and learning new things whether it is directly related to the photos and the editing process, or the client experience, or to make my workflow more efficient. One thing that I love to play around with is the packaging! I could go crazy but I am a stickler for keeping things cute but cost efficient. Just last week I ordered some new cds as well as business cards so I thought I’d snap a few pics and share!

I’m extremely happy with how the cd’s turned out!

I switch up my thank you cards a lot, but I’m loving this new design I made recently. I just print these out on thick card stock and cut them myself. I love adding a little personal note to the packaging because my clients are so cool and I feel the need to tell them that. I’ve been using the small chevron bags (from Etsy) for awhile to add a little fun pop of color.

Slightly obsessed with my new business cards! I was browsing the Tiny Prints website around Christmas time and saw that they had business cards. When I saw this “hello” card it was calling my name! It is weird how perfectly it fits in with my brand. You know me, I feel the need to design everything myself so it is perfect, but it was so nice to just add my info on these bad boys and be done. Well, I switched the fonts and layout a bit on the back, of course! I found a 20% off coupon online and they had free shipping so I was sold!

Here’s the whole cd. I designed them in Photoshop but I kept them really simple. The little white box at the bottom is so that I can add the client name and year to each cd.

I also use this cute Scotch tape to secure the kraft cd holder and I  put it on the outside of the package to make it a little prettier. The top one is called mint mosaic and I originally bought it at Target although they have it at a lot of other places as well (Staples, Office Depot).

So there’s a little sneak peek at how I spend some of my days packaging up client cd’s! Any other photographers out there or Etsy shop owners with packaging tips?! Would love to hear how you package your items!

I’m still blogging new sessions and trying to catch up blogging old sessions from before the holidays, so there are lots of new things over on my photo site – Sada Lewis Photography. Have a great weekend!

PS – I wanted to add that I know the trend has been to move from CD’s to flash drives. I haven’t been quite ready to make the switch yet and don’t have any complaints from my clients. I should also add that the online galleries that I use offer an instant download option, so all of my clients have instant access to their digital files. The CD is more so used as a backup copy. So, I’m not totally old school  :)

My Silly Girl

I don’t have my camera out quite as much these days. P Lily is on the move and we mostly play and run around the house all day! But every once in awhile I make it a point to get out my camera and follow her around for awhile. These were taken at the end of last year and she just looks so precious. Her hair is getting so long and somehow it’s nicely brushed to the side here! She’s working that side swept bang. These are also great because she’s strapped in the high chair so she can’t run away! They remind me a bit of this series that I posted here. She was only 8 months then! So fun to look back and compare.

Such a silly girl, but we are having so much fun! I’ll let you insert your own funny captions to these. Who knows what she’s thinking!

Master Bedroom Update

We’ve lived in our house for a little over 2.5 years and we are still sleeping on our bed without a frame. Yep, box springs on the floor! Oh man, classy right? I am embarrassed. Well, no more embarrassment my friends! The day after Christmas, I was roaming on the world wide web and came across this pretty upholstered bed frame on Overstock.com

Grey upholstered headboard and bed frame overstock

Ahahahaaa! The answer to my prayers! And it was on sale! Me and the hubs decided to spend our Christmas money on it. Thanks SANTA! It’s possible that I am a little picky about things, but it took me a long time to find exactly what I wanted. One thing that I was looking for was a headboard that was tall enough so that you could lean the pillows upright and still see the shape of the headboard. Yes, that seems very random, I know, but you would be surprised how many headboards are hidden when you prop up the pillows, therefore almost making it pointless to have a pretty headboard! I’ve also always been drawn to the grey fabric (of course) but I have been worried about how it would look next to our grey walls. I did a little mock up with the sample of our wall color…

Bedroom

What do you think? I’m hoping there is enough contrast between the two! The bed is supposed to come in next week! Eek!

Since we moved in I’ve had this idea in my head of having the master be a neutral, calm space but I always wanted to add metallic accents. I love color but I just feel like this is the right space for some metallics! We’re not making a huge overhaul to the room but I’m hoping the addition of the bed along with a few new accent pieces will really make the space feel a little more polished and cozy! I’ll take a few photos once it is all set up!

Cassandra - We’ve also been in our house for 2.5 years and also don’t have a frame/headboard. It’s something I want to fix this year but I also haven’t found one I really like yet

Urban Wife - You are not alone! We lived without a bed frame for 1 year when we first got married. Now, we are still headboard-less…almost 6 years laters. *so embarrassing* I’ve been eyeing one from West Elm for a long time but just the hubs isn’t convinced yet. (I say that’s because he never knew the magical wonders that is a comfy headboard)

Can’t wait to see more pics once your room is all done!

Camille - Love it! It will look great. And totally funny too because that was what I got for Christmas too! A new upholstered bed frame! It must have been a Lewis thing :)

2014 Resolutions

This is clearly a random smorgasbord of things I’d like to do this year! I hope to continue to blog more over here! I have a bunch of cute photos of P I hope to get up on the blog this week. As for the master bedroom, we’re finally going to add a few upgrades! I’ll share more soon! Laundry…anyone have any good tips for a laundry system? I’m starting off by getting rid of a ton of clothes and simplifying my closet. I don’t know what my obsession with chalkboard art is, but I’m determined to create one goodie this year. It would probably help if I spent more than 15 minutes on it and didn’t start it at midnight…food for thought! I was inspired by Elise’s post today on the Pinhole Press album she created. It looks awesome and easy to do. I’m hoping to at least get our professional photo sessions into books this year. I also love how Ashley Ann orders two copies – one for safe keeping and one for the kids to look at. And finally, exercising. I really struggled with this last year. I usually am an exercise queen but I am still trying to figure out how to fit it in. I know that sounds lame…if something is important to you, you make time for it. But I just don’t have a lot of free time these days between the photo biz, shooting weddings with BTL, and P Lily. Running is my escape from the world. I put my headphones in and cruise. I can’t get into running with the stroller and I don’t get enough sleep as is to wake up earlier than Paige to fit it in. The only good news is that Paige is practically running as fast as me now, so maybe we can be jogging buddies?  :)

I recently found this list on my phone that I made last January. You’ll see some of them I obviously didn’t complete as they are on the list again for 2014 but I actually got through some of them!

Here’s to 2014 and hoping I can cross a few more things off the list!
