Casa de Lewis bio picture

Hola peeps! Welcome to Casa de Lewis. We are twenty somethings who got married in 2010, bought a house in 2011, and had a sweet baby girl in 2012! We both started our careers as CPAs and now Reagan works in finance and I have my own photography business. I blog about my baby girl (obviously), products we love, crafts, photography, DIY projects, sweet treats, random life tidbits, and the balance of being a mom and business owner! Our house is always a work in progress but we love working on it and making it our own. Thanks for stopping by!

Nursery : Paint Faux Molding on Sliding Closet Doors

I love that this easy paint project created such a dramatic difference in the nursery! The original doors were brown and just didn’t mesh with the rest of the room. I was hesitant to paint them until I saw this project on Pinterest! Brilliant!

My mom helped! I was 8 months pregnant at this point so she stood up on the chair and got down on the floor…aka she took one for the team on this project. First we painted the doors white, making sure to really hit the spot where the white faux molding would show through. Then we used handy dandy frog tape to mark off the molding. This was the trickiest part – considering the sliding doors overlap, you have to be careful in how you measure out your lines if you want them to look evenly spaced when the doors are closed (and overlapped). Then I applied 2-3 coats of the wall color, Sherwin Williams Silverplate at 50%, until the doors were sufficiently covered. We ripped off the frog tape and voila!

gemma@thesweetestdigs - Oh my goodness, I *love* how they turned out!! Isn’t it such a great way to amp up those sliding doors? I was a bit worried about the paint chipping after a while, but ours still look good as new.

Thanks for linking to my project!

PS. Little Paige is SO sweet! Congrats :)

Swanky Master Bedroom DIY Ideas | Teal and Lime - […] Faux Molding Sliding Doors – These are the nicest looking sliding doors I have ever seen and she did it all with paint on flat slab doors.  My client is enclosing an entire side of her room to create a new closet and needed a sliding door recommendation.  I recommended a semi-DIY on the main mood board to hang french doors on sliders, but this DIY painted option is even more wallet-friendly.
