Casa de Lewis bio picture

Hola peeps! Welcome to Casa de Lewis. We are twenty somethings who got married in 2010, bought a house in 2011, and had a sweet baby girl in 2012! We both started our careers as CPAs and now Reagan works in finance and I have my own photography business. I blog about my baby girl (obviously), products we love, crafts, photography, DIY projects, sweet treats, random life tidbits, and the balance of being a mom and business owner! Our house is always a work in progress but we love working on it and making it our own. Thanks for stopping by!

The Kitchen Banquette // Part One

Check out this awesome, awkward space we have between our kitchen and our living area. For almost a year, there was nothing there (aka no table, no picture frames). But it was a great spot for our Christmas tree during the holidays! We finally decided that a kitchen banquette was our best bet for this area. Oddly enough, we bought this table from World Market before we even started the dang banquette! But it was on sale!  :)

Originally, we were going to see if a contractor could come in and build us a basic built in bench that we could paint and add to. Well, the first guy gave us a bid of $2,500! WHAT?! After that we sat down with my brother-in-law, Jerheme, and decided that we could tackle this on our own. Between the three of us we put our heads together and Jerh sketched out our master plan.

Besides some type of bench, we also wanted to add beadboard to the wall behind the bench. The biggest challenge, however, was to figure out how we were going to build the bench but still allow ventilation to the ac vent. More on that later  :)

We came up with our plan and Reags and Jerh got to work. At this point, I was just the pregnant lady who got to boss people around and make decisions. It was great.

Stay tuned for part two…
