Want to see another empty room?I know I’ve been stingy on the new house tour posts. We’ve lived in our new casa for two months and I haven’t shown you all of our empty rooms yet…well, today’s your lucky day! You get to see our empty dining room!
I’m kind of in love with this room. It is at the back of our house so the big windows look out to our backyard. And I just love how the natural lights floods into the room all day.
Oh, and yes, the room is empty…minus this one bohemoth of a table! We snagged this bad boy from the happiest place on earth…
No, not Disneyland my friends, the San Marcos Oulets! Greatest place on earth. This is the Benchwright Table from Pottery Barn. We basically got it for half off and then used all of the gift cards from our wedding. If Reagan were to ever write a post on the blog I think it would be Negotiating 101. He talked the manager down another $300 from the price marked! Go Reags! FYI – We learned that you can usually negotiate at outlets. They tend to list the original price as higher in an attempt to swindle you. Stay strong! Negotiate!
Anyways, thank you to everyone who got us a PB gift card for our wedding!! We put it to good use and bought this beautiful table that we will have for many years to come. Like forever actually.
What’s wrong with it you ask? Not much. There are a few scratches here and there which I am going to fill using a touch up marker. Luckily, they really just blend in since the table is supposed to be rustic looking. This is partially why we decided to go with this table. One day there are going to be mini Reagans and Sadas running around and undoubtedly the mini Reagans will put a scratch in the table at some point. (Mini Sadas would never). The other table we were considering was the Sumner Table which had a very smooth finish on top. I was afraid I was going to scratch it! So going with the Benchwright seemed like a no brainer for this stage in our lives. And basically we just got really lucky on this one. It has all of the parts and hardly any nicks. The people at the store thought someone just returned it so it got shipped to the outlet.
Does it bother anyone else that the table doesn’t line up with the window? I moved it to line up with the window but it sticks too far out into the room. Darn. Luckily you don’t usually look at it from this angle.
The only thing missing? Chairs! But today we found the perfect chairs at World Market! I would show you them but they don’t have the ones we want online. And Reagan built this bench! With the help of my bro-in-law Jerheme, these two have been carpenters in training. I looooove it
It needs some serious sanding and a good stain and then it will look a little more cohesive with the table. I think it will be great! We’ll be able to fit like nine little mini Reagan and Sada booties on that thing!
As for the rest of the room I had a serious aha moment this weekend and I know exactly how I want it set up! Just like the rest of the house though, we have zero furniture so it may take me a bit to get it there, but I’ll keep you updated!
